  1. I have a Thai work permit, still could not get Thai price. In the end I didn’t bother.

  2. I wouldn’t recommend anyone visit the Tiger Temple, Thai or Fareng whatever the price. An idea that started out with good Buddhist principles has become more of a money making machine
Kanchanaburi is a very beautiful province with many attractions, some of which are free (unfortunately, many are not)

  3. Yes , some place is free of charge for Thai people also do not want to go , so do not to say have to pay admission fees , this is standard , no comment

  4. Also be aware that the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, next to the main war cemetery, operates a dual pricing system – 100฿ Thai adult, 140฿ foreign adult. I find this more insulting than Thai-operated sites because the Managing Director & Manager are both British (?) and sons of former PoWs and the manager, in an e-mail to me, said he’d ‘made a scene’ himself when confronted with dual-pricing during his years of living in Thailand. They say the price difference is to encourage Thais to visit and maybe it achieves that end but – guess what – it also encourages some foreigners, such as myself, NOT to visit. A little to their credit – they say that they operated a single price until 2003 but Thais didn’t come until they offered a lower Thai price.

Only a 40% mark-up for foreigners but I’m afraid that, after many years living full-time in Thailand and being subjected to this crap all the time, this sort of policy has got beyond a joke. I just refuse to pay & walk out.

Sorry, I can’t find any other way of introducing a new ‘dual-pricing’ operation onto this website.
